The Big Flake

This past weekend I was supposed to have a date with "New Guy". He flaked. Well, not entirely, but we didn't have dinner last night as planned. I did, however, go see his band play Saturday night, which was VERY GOOD. But when Sunday rolled around, he was so busy writing a paper and promoting his art that it was going to be a stretch to fit in dinner. So I let him off the hook. I was trying to be understanding, because believe me, I know what it's like to be in school and working and trying to finish everything on Sunday night. I spent 10 years doing that.

I can see myself approaching this...this thing...with New Guy in a whole new way. Instead of sizing him up for dating and/or a relationship, I'm just going to slowly get to know him and have fun with it. He's so busy finishing his bachelor's degree, playing gigs, designing, and many other things, that I'm really not certain he could even handle a steady relationship. Just my guess. And that's fine...I've met many New Guys along my road...I know how it goes. Anyway, I'm not looking for the future father of my child. New Guy and I can just enjoy each other, while pursuing our own dreams.

So, in lieu of dinner with New Guy, I watched "And Baby Makes Two". I really loved it! It's a great documentary about single mothers by choice. I got it from Amazon.com for cheap. I also recently bought a book called "Knock Yourself Up!". I read the preface, and although it is written by a lesbian, I think I'll glean some pertinent info from it. More book reviews later.
